Reports and Applications
Audit
Statistical and reinsurance audits are conducted to test the accuracy of company
data reported to CAR. They are performed in accordance with CAR's role as statistical
agent and as the residual market mechanism for Massachusetts automobile insurance.
The Statistical and Reinsurance Reports in this section reflect our audit findings and
other selected data from the most recently completed audit cycles.
Claims
The reports in the Claims section provide summary information on
servicing carriers’ compliance with the Performance Standards, their SIU
physical damage savings, and their average cost per claim and allocated
expenses averages. The Performance Standards Report is updated annually.
The SIU Savings Report is updated quarterly and
the Average Cost per Claim report and Allocated Expense Report are updated monthly.
Data Reporting & Quality
The reports and applications in the Data Reporting & Quality section are intended to provide information
to companies that will allow them to improve the quality of their data. Some reports provide
detail and/or summary information about a company's overall data and their corresponding
errors. Other reports enable companies to report new data or correct existing data that
has been identified as being in error.
Financial
The Financial Reports section contains all of the financial and quantitative reports relating
to the CAR deficit and individual member participation. More specifically, these reports
detail the development of each company's private passenger and commercial participation ratios,
deficit share, settlement of balances and ceding expense allowances. Policy year loss ratios and
deficit projections, as established by the Loss Reserving Committee, are also included.
Market
The Market Reports page contains a series of reports pertaining to the private passenger and
commercial automobile markets. The reports include several cession volume analysis
exhibits detailing company exposure and premium volume reported in each calendar month,
and historical rate changes for the private passenger and ceded commercial market.
The current private passenger and ERP subscription reports are also included in this section,
along with information on CAR membership and servicing carriers.
Telecommunications
The Telecommunications System enables Member Companies to perform numerous reporting functions in
an efficient and independent manner.
