CAR Governance
Governing Committee Meetings are conducted in accordance with the provisions of Massachusetts General Laws, Chapter 30A, Section, 11A1/2. Agendas and Notices of such meetings are furnished to all committee members, the Commissioner of Insurance, and the Secretary of State. Additional meetings may be called by the Chairman, by written petition of four committee members, or by the Commissioner of Insurance. No vote of the Governing Committee shall be taken unless a quorum is present. A quorum consists of eight members, at least two of which are insurer members and two of which are producer members. In addition, an Annual Meeting of the Members of CAR is conducted in accordance with Rule 3 of the Rules of Operation.

2008 Advisory Committees
Advisory committees are appointed on an annual basis by the Governing Committee Chairman from among member companies and producers to develop and review varied issues for input to the Governing Committee's decision making process. Advisory committees report to the Governing Committee.

Subcommittees
Subcommittees are appointed by the Chairman of the Governing Committee or an advisory committee to provide expertise and input on ongoing as well as specialized issues. Subcommittees report directly to the parent advisory committee.

Ad Hoc/Special Committees
Ad Hoc and Special Committees are appointed by the Chairman of the Governing Committee or an advisory committee on an "as needed" basis to provide input and expertise on specific issues. Ad Hoc and Special Committees report to the Governing Committee or to the parent committee and are typically disbanded after the business for which they are appointed has been concluded.
